MOTUL has committed to a multi-year extension in partnership with Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta, as announced today during IMSA’s State of the Sport address at the 29th Annual Motul Petit Le Mans weekend.
MOTUL will continue to serve as the entitlement sponsor of the world-renowned Motul Petit Le Mans featuring the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship and will also retain the designation of the Official Lubricant Partner of Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta. Through this extended multiyear agreement, MOTUL will continue to have a strong presence within the Michelin Raceway property with prominent signage and branding, annual digital inclusion, experiential marketing and a special focus on activation around Motul Petit Le Mans while building awareness on outstanding performance and protection practices for everyday journeys. MOTUL will also continue their partnership with the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship as the Official Lubricant and Proud Partner.
MOTUL and Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta first partnered in 2017 for the 20th running of the iconic Motul Petit Le Mans 10-hour endurance race, as this championship event is known around the world as one of the most coveted race wins in the world of motorsports.
As a global leader in high-performance lubricants, MOTUL’s association with racetracks and racing teams around the world underscores the brand’s commitment to activating with top-level motorsports entities in areas where their consumers are engaged.
Motul Petit Le Mans and MOTUL also share a mutual connection in their affiliation with the 24 Hours of Le Mans, which has happened almost every year since 1923 in France and is the longest-running active sports car endurance race on the planet. Motul Petit Le Mans was modeled in many ways after the French endurance classic and MOTUL has continued to support this globally significant race as the Official Lubricant Partner.
“Extending our partnership with IMSA and Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta builds on a relationship established in 2017 and supports our ambitions in North America,” said Guillaume Pailleret, CEO Americas, Motul. “It also continues our long-standing commitment to endurance racing, started in 1954 at the 24 Hours of Le Mans and continued ever since. Endurance racing remains a unique environment to test our technologies in the most demanding conditions, connecting our heritage, our expertise and our ambitions for the future.”
“MOTUL has supported the Motul Petit Le Mans in countless ways over the years and we’re proud to continue this partnership,” said Rick Humphrey, president and general manager of Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta. “Through Motul’s investment and significant commitment over the past nearly 10 years to both our facility and this exceptional event weekend, teams and spectators alike have benefitted in their experience here at the racetrack. MOTUL has expanded their footprint in North American sportscar racing and Michelin Raceway is a conduit to further that exposure to some of the most avid sports fans across the globe.”
The 29th Annual Motul Petit Le Mans kicked off on Wednesday, Sept. 30 and culminates with the 10-hour IMSA WeatherTech Championship season finale endurance race on Saturday, Oct. 3. This four-day event also features competition from the IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge in the FOX Factory 120, the VP Racing SportsCar Challenge, Whelen Mazda MX-5 Cup presented by Michelin, and Porsche Carrera Cup North America.
